Nancy Fowler Atwood ended her battle with both cancer and Alzheimer's and went peacefully to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 17th, 2017. Nancy was born in Houston, Texas on March 9th, 1947. She was the daughter of Frances Bishop Fowler and Robert Edward Guess Fowler.

Nancy graduated from Lamar High School in Houston in 1965 and attended the University of Texas in Austin, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority; before graduating in 1969 with a degree in childhood education. She was a teacher in the Houston area for the majority of her professional career - specializing in the development of young children and those with MHMR specialized needs. She taught at The Parish School and Poe Elementary, among others. Upon retiring from teaching, she cherished dealing in antiquities and babysitting her granddaughter at every opportunity. Additionally she was a member of St. John the Divine where she worked in the church bookstore, coordinated weddings and served on the altar guild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Bob Fowler and her son, Robert Fowler Atwood. She will be lovingly missed by her family: son, Kirby, his wife Amy and their daughter Hadley; as well as her sister Susan and her husband Lenoir Josey II. She also leaves behind a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Nancy had a tender and caring heart for everyone she met and always put the needs of others before herself. She will be deeply missed.
