Hector (Sammy) Gonzalez Aguirre devoted Christian, husband and father went to be with the Lord surrounded by loved ones on September 7, 2017. He was born on November 12, 1929 in Houston, TX to Jose and Maria Gonzalez Aguirre.

Hector was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-William, David and Thomas Aguirre; sisters-Rebecca Aguirre, Elizabeth Ramos and Aurora Salazar. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Julia Cortinas Aguirre; loving daughters Rosa Linda Aguirre, Mary Elizabeth Darden/Robert, Sandra Aguirre Melgar/Jose and Brenda Lee Zertuche/Gilbert; 9 Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren; Sister-Elsie Castillo;...

Hector was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-William, David and Thomas Aguirre; sisters-Rebecca Aguirre, Elizabeth Ramos and Aurora Salazar. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Julia Cortinas Aguirre; loving daughters Rosa Linda Aguirre, Mary Elizabeth Darden/Robert, Sandra Aguirre Melgar/Jose and Brenda Lee Zertuche/Gilbert; 9 Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren; Sister-Elsie Castillo; Brother-Robert Aguirre; Special nieces Ora Cantu/Paul, Cabrina Seuthe/Tom and Edie Almogabar, numerous loving relatives.

Hector proudly served in the US Navy, worked 19th years at AB Dick Company and retired from Baker Hughes. He was a former member of SER and GI Forum. He served as a Deacon for many years at Segunda Iglesia Bautista and currently a member of Iglesia Bautista Houston.
Hector will be missed by all he knew, he was the essence of love, exemplifying Jesus to all. He loved his family beyond measure, always putting them before himself. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren have sweet memories of his love and playfulness, they will always treasure. His relatives, young and old, looked to him for guidance. We thank him for the unconditional love he had for all.

Visitation will take place Monday, September 18, 2017, 6 pm at Iglesia Bautista Houston, 5102 Texas St, Houston, TX, 77011 with Celebration of Life service at 7 pm. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017, 11am at Iglesia Bautista Houston with Burial at 12:30 at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale, Houston, TX.
